Kent and Medway Diabetic Eye Screening Programme

If you’re diabetic and 12 years and over, you will receive an invitation to an eye screening appointment. Diabetes affects the small blood vessels in the retina, as a result of high blood sugar levels, this is known as diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic maculopathy is same condition that happens within the macula, which is responsible for our central and colour vision. These are asymptomatic conditions that can lead to blindness and will not be spotted at a regular optician’s appointment.

These are FREE appointments! If you haven’t yet received an appointment letter or would like to change an appointment please call the Kent and Medway DESP’s booking office on 01233 880000 (8am to 8pm).
